Aston-Patterning® is a comprehensive approach
to finding more ease, energy, grace and relief from stress in your physical
body. It includes Bodywork,
Movement, Fitness and Ergonomics.
These workshops all focus on Movement education and ergonomics to
assist you in finding more ease at work, at play and during all the
important times in between.
Below you
will find brief descriptions of the classes I have taught so far. They can vary in length from one to three
hours.

Avoiding
Back Pain - for Gardeners, Builders and everyone else.
Learn Aston® movement
principles to protect your spine when you are working hard. These principles teach you to work with
your body and with the forces of the earth, rather than constantly fighting
against them. Yes, gravity can be your
friend!
This class covers how to
minimize the torque and strain on your body while working hard. We go over exercises to strengthen the
core muscles which support your back and exercises to stretch and loosen
your body both before and during your work.
We will also address individual concerns students may have about
their own structure and body usage needs.

Spend your lunch break discovering greater
ease and comfort in your body through Aston-Patterning®! Learn new skills to:

This class focuses on the particular needs of
people who spend a great deal of time sitting at desks, working on
computers and
talking on the phone.
It can be a great way for an entire office to spend their lunch.
Aston-Patterning® for Childbirth
Learn how to move to Make Childbirth Easier, Give your Baby more Room
and Help your Baby Find Its Way Out!
Whether a birth happens at home, in a birthing center or a hospital,
learning to pay attention to and work with your body can make it an easier,
more complete and gratifying experience for everyone involved.
Aston-Patterning® for Childbirth gives both the mother and her partner
specific techniques which work with the body's natural spiraling design to
open the path of the birth canal, easing labor and reducing the stresses on
both the mother and the child.
This class works very well in conjunction with birth classes, and has
been found invaluable by midwives, doulas and other birth support
personnel.
Recovering
from Childbirth
Now that
you’ve given birth, how do you regain your previous shape? Probably the biggest concern I see among
mothers is low tone in their pelvic floor and abdomen. Not only does this contribute to “mommy
shoulders”, it also sets women up for back pain, poor digestion and
incontinence.
This class
covers exercises to tone the abdomen and pelvic floor, to find a supported
neutral posture and to take that supported posture into the movements every
mother does all day.
